ITHACA, N.Y, -- The Cornell University Poultry School for Small Farms will be held here March 13 in Morrison Hall of the university.
Classes will cover basic egg and meat bird production, as well as advanced techniques such as pasturing poultry.
The popularity of pastured poultry -- in which chickens are raised naturally on pasture, foraging and moved oven -- has surged recently.
Kimberly Totten of the Central New York Resource Conservation & Development, said that's in part due to the resurgence in interest in small farms and people's desire to know where their food comes from.
The RC&D is hosting the event, along with the Cornell University Department of Animal Science and Cornerstone Farm Ventures.
