Nominations sought for poultry industry safety award

WASHINGTON -- The Joint Poultry Industry Safety & Health Council is seeking nominations for the Joint Poultry Industry Safety Recognition Award Program. Nominations are due March 15.

The program seeks to motivate employers to continuously improve their safety performance through the establishment of sound safety and health programs at the facility level and to recognize those facilities that have achieved a high level of safety performance as part of a continuing effort to reduce occupational injury and illness.

The program also seeks to boost employee morale, reduce expenses associated with workplace injuries and illnesses and generally enhance the poultry and egg industry's overall image regarding employee safety and health.

The awards are sponsored by the National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation and the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association.

Program rules and applications for the awards program are available at http://www.poultryegg.org/files/SafetyAward.doc.
