Animal welfare agreement keeps issue off ballot

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, the major organizations representing livestock producers and other agricultural interests, and the Humane Society of the United States have announced a joint agreement which will result in the Humane Society not pursuing a ballot initiative this fall to ban new caged housing for layer hens.

NCC: New performance standards for chicken should be withdrawn

WASHINGTON -- New federal regulations on the presence of naturally occurring salmonella and campylobacter on raw poultry are unsupported by science and contrary to law and should be withdrawn, the National Chicken Council has stated.

Bo Pilgrim recognized for Hall of Fame induction

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Pilgrim's Pride co-founder and principal owner Lonnie (Bo) Pilgrim was inducted into the American Poultry Historical Society Hall of Fame during the International Poultry Exposition held in January in Atlanta.
