AMSTERDAM -- AT&T has announced that Marel, a leading global provider of advanced equipment and systems for the food processing industry headquartered in The Netherlands and Iceland, has selected AT&T to provide a global communications network in a five-year, multi-million dollar contract.
Core to the deal is AT&T's provision of competitive, flexible and integrated wide area networking (WAN) solutions that span the globe, catering to Marel's need for a uniform infrastructure across its business, the company said, adding that, with operations in more than 30 countries and with more than 3,700 employees, Marel will benefit from AT&T's fully-managed network for its 60-site global WAN.
In addition, AT&T will provide Marel with Managed Security Services-Network Based Firewall, Remote Access Services (RAS) for home workers and travelling users, and web security.
"AT&T's networking services provide us with a cost-effective, flexible, and reliable foundation for collaboration across the business, and for leveraging our central IT services. As a company with a global network of 60 agents and distributors, this is a key step along our global integration roadmap," said Martin Lohmeier, chief information officer with Marel.
"Marel is the latest global company based in Europe to sign an agreement with AT&T and providing connectivity and applications to world-class companies like Marel is one of AT&T's key strengths. We were selected because of the global reach and consistency of our services, and we are committed to connecting Marel's worldwide employees, partners and suppliers, while delivering and managing an array of network services to help the company accelerate its business performance," said Tom Regent, head of AT&T in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Asia).
